The Hesby Oaks spelling bee returns!

Tuesday, December 5th starting at 5:00PM (grades 1 to 4)

Wednesday, December 6th starting at 5:00PM (grades 5 to 8)

·      All students in grades 1 to 8 are welcome to participate.

·      Both nights will have cookies, a raffle, and prizes for the winners in the MPR.  

How Does the HesBEE Work?

Spellers compete by grade using words randomly selected from a list divided by grade level. If spellers go through all of the words in their grade level, words are then selected from the next grade level. Spellers can ask for a word’s definition and/or use in a sentence to help them.

The word list – provided by the Scripps National Spelling Bee – is available at the bottom of this page.

The winners from each grade will compete against each other in early 2024 for a chance to go to the L.A. County regional bee. The regional champion advances to the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.!
