HIP Election Time

SECRETARY POSITION-Samantha Greenfield
 
My name is Samantha Greenfield and I am running for Secretary. I have held this board position for 3 years and would love to do it again. I have a daughter in 3rd grade and a son in kinder, so we will be part of the Hesby community for a long time. I love being a part of the Hesby community--it is an incredible group of families. I feel that I have done a good job as Secretary and would love to continue. Please vote for me!  Thanks. 
 
MIDDLE SCHOOL VICE PRESIDENT POSITION-Julie Bailey

 

My name is Julie Bailey and I will have an 8th grader and a 5th grader in the 2013 – 2014 school year. We have been at Hesby Oaks Leadership Charter since its opening in 2006. I have been involved as a volunteer, in various roles, at the school since it opened. I feel I am qualified to perform the role of Middle School Vice President because I have been working alongside the current Middle School VP this past school year. I have come to understand what is necessary to work with the Middle School teachers, to enhance the Middle School experience for our students. I am very familiar with the faculty and staff at the school, and have a good relationship with them. I have had experience organizing events and trips for the students, and believe we have had a very productive year. This position will mean moving up into more of a leadership role, but I feel I am ready, able and willing to take on this task.

 

TREASURER POSITION-Karen Platt

Dear Hesby Oaks community,

I am pleased to have the opportunity to run as a candidate for HIP Treasurer. I’m the proud parent of a 4th grader and 1st grader and have been a proud Hesby Oaks Parent for the past 4 years. 

I am a firm believer that a good community comes from the strength of its members and you must participate to improve it – both with time and with money.  I believe it is my time to contribute to my skills to HIP to continue building upon the outstanding leadership that we had this year.   

By profession, I am an independent computer tech/software trainer – everything from fighting viruses to teaching QuickBooks and quicken.  I am excellent on the computer and diligent with finances.  I am capable of providing the necessary reports and overseeing the budget for HIP as well as writing the checks and reconciling accounts.  I assist numerous households and non-profits with this on a day to day basis as well as my own business. 

I look forward to this opportunity.

California Pizza Kitchen-Family Day-May 17th

EAT A CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN AND WIN A PIZZA PARTY FOR YOUR CLASS

Join us all day on Friday, May 17th at CPK at Woodley.  They will be giving back 20% of all food sales to Hesby that day if you present this flyer.  

Each classroom will get flyers with their room numbers on them.  The classroom that turns in the most flyers during this restaurant event will win a CPK pizza party at school.

(if you have more than 1 child in Hesby, write in all of their room numbers on 1 flyer and present that when you pay)

Hesby is giving away free trees

Through the Million Trees LA program through LA city, Hesby wants to give you free trees.  Either 7-5 gallon shade trees or 1 tree between the sidewalk and street.
