HesBEE Spelling Bee

HesBEE 2027

The Hesby Oaks spelling bee returns!

Wednesday, January 13th starting at 5:00PM

· All students in grades 1 to 8 are welcome to participate.

· We will have cookies, a raffle, and prizes for the winners in the MPR.

How Does the HesBEE Work?

Spellers compete by grade using words randomly selected from a list divided by grade level. If spellers go through all of the words in their grade level, words are then selected from the next grade level. Spellers can ask for a word’s definition and/or use in a sentence to help them.

The word lists – provided by the Scripps National Spelling Bee – are available at the bottom of this page.

The winners from 4th-8th grade will compete against each other for a chance to go to the L.A. County regional bee. The regional champion advances to the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.!
