GENERAL:

The library media center is home to books, magazines, encyclopedias, reference materials a video library, and 10 computer work stations.

Wish List:

• Parent volunteers for computer work & shelving books
• Parent volunteer to power wash the outside door and windows on Hesby Street
• Cookies or $ donations for pizza for book club meetings/rewards
• Books for book clubs
• DVDs and Videos
• Prizes for all grades (especially cool stuff for Middle School such as studio/movie items such as shirts/hats/bags/pins/posters, e.g. New Moon promotional items!)
• Large bean bags (for sitting)
• Kitchen timers with a magnet (two)
• Certificate/bond paper

Birthday Books: The library receives donated books from parents who want to honor their son or daughter's birthday. A bookplate is placed inside the donated book indicating the student's name and birth date to commemorate the donation.

Hours: Daily from 7:30 - 3:30 (except early dismissal Tuesdays). Open during students' morning break and lunch times and for classroom visitations. See link to Homework Club on the left, the LMC is open and supervised by an assistant until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday for Homework Club.

Student Check-Out Procedures: Students must have their current Hesby Oaks LMC card and their Acceptable Use Policy on file in order to check out materials or to use the computers. Students that have late books or owe money to the LMC will not be allowed to check out more materials until their record is clear.

Check-out Period: All materials may be loaned for two weeks. Materials may be renewed for another two week period by bringing their Library Card and the materials to the LMC on or before the due date. Late books may not be renewed.

LMC Overdue Materials and Fines:

• Books and magazines: 10 cents per day
• Maximum late fine is $6.00 per book
• Overdue charges do not include weekends, holidays, or when school is closed.

Lost and Damaged LMC Materials and Text Books:

• $5.00 per magazine plus $3.00 lost magazine card
• $25.00 per library book; $50-$75 per text book (Middle School)
• Parents are expected to pay the replacement price for any lost or damaged library book (Education Code 48904)(Library bound books and processing fees)
• Pay for lost library books in the LMC
• Pay for lost text books in the Main Office
